Responsibilities and duties

Design and Development:

  • Supervise the design of mechanical systems including heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and other mechanical systems relevant to the construction project.
  • Utilize CAD (Computer-Aided Design) and BIM (Building Information Modeling) software to create detailed mechanical designs.

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, and other members of the project team to integrate mechanical systems seamlessly into the overall design.
  • Coordinate with contractors, sub-contractors, and suppliers to ensure the timely and cost-effective delivery of mechanical systems. Construction Supervision and Site Inspection:
  • Supervise the installation of mechanical systems to ensure they are installed as per the design and specifications.
  • Inspect and verify the work of contractors to ensure compliance with building codes, safety standards, and project requirements. Technical Documentation:
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Ensure all documentation complies with local building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure mechanical designs and installations comply with all local and national building codes, industry standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Liaise with local authorities and regulatory bodies as necessary to ensure compliance.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
  • Identify and resolve issues with mechanical systems that may arise during construction.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical systems, working closely with other engineering and construction professionals

Qualification requirement and skills

  • Engineering degree/Master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD/BIM software and other engineering tools. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to perform engineering calculations to ensure designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct testing and inspections of mechanical systems to ensure they operate correctly and efficiently.
  • Good in English and French languages.
