Local Technical Consultant

Overview: We are a startup company focused on producing compressed earth bricks. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Local Technical Consultant to assist in the establishment and operation of our business in Senegal. This is a service-based assignment that could be renewed as needed. It is ideal for a professional in civil engineering and a passion for sustainable construction materials.

Requirements:

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a minimum 10 years’ experience
• Solid experience in laterite soil stabilization, building design and construction
• Proficient in English. Knowledge of local languages is a must.
• A driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities:

• Equipment Importation: coordinate with government entity and customs for tax free importation of brick-making plant equipment.
• Material Sourcing: identify laterite soil quarry owners to secure sufficient and consistent quality supply of raw materials.
• Regulatory Compliance: work with responsible agencies to perform soil / brick testing and obtain required certifications for the products.
• Site Selection: Identify and secure suitable land for building structures to house equipment, preferably near a quarry.
• Site Development and facility construction: prepare site for facility construction including all utilities (water, electricity, etc.).
• Equipment Installation and Turnover: Oversee the installation, testing, and startup of brick-making plant equipment. Provide technical training for production staff.
