DP World is hiring an Operations Manager.

Job Description

Main responsibilities

  • Monitor and control terminal operations.
  • Yard: receival, reception, reefer activities, Inspections,
  • Vessel Operations: berthing, unberthing of vessels, container load/discharge, general cargo operations
  • Gate operations: transfers, gate transactions,
  • Motivate and encourage staff to achieve the objectives assigned to them.
  • To economically and efficiently ensure the resources allocated to the operations and the productivity of the workforce.
  • Ensure the discipline of Operations personnel.
  • Ensure the execution of the berthing plans as per agreed berth windows agreed with the Shipping Lines
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with shipping lines, agents, shipowners, consignees, port authorities (pilots, vessel traffic services, …), customers and all partners.
  • Monitor and control the financial and administrative operations of the terminal as well as the activities of the staff.
  • Ensure the efficient management of empties as per the Empty Return Policy.
  • Manage and report incidents to the COO and take corrective action.
  • Ensure reporting of all incidents,
  • Conduct root cause analysis, in coordination with HSSE
  • Define actions plans and bring appropriate solutions,
  • Report to concerned entities such as Legal, Commercial, …
  • Integrate these corrective actions into the internal procedures of operations.
    Develop and integrate new procedures (SOP).
  • Establish and maintain performance criteria (KPIs) for all the Ops staff.
  • Identify and develop the training needs and technologies required by the department.
  • Coordinate with HC to define training needs and plan and manage training sessions for staff.
  • Plan, manage and analyze the Integrated Management Information System (IMIS) reports.
  • Execute periodic staff evaluation reports,
  • Provide regular control on procedures and initiate activities aimed at increasing competency.
  • Ensure perfect coordination and communication between the various Operations departments.
  • Any other activity deemed necessary and appropriate to achieve objectives and increase productivity with the help of allocated resources (labor and equipment).

Personnel Directly supervised

  • Planning Manager, Execution Manager, General Cargo Manager.

Place of work, tools & Equipment used Office with access to Ops Dashboard, N4, Maximo and Office 365.

Internal / External contacts

  • Internal: Operations, HSSE, Engineering, Commercial, Legal, IT, HC and Finance.
  • External: Port authorities (VTS, Pilots, AGS, …), Customs, Shipping Lines, Customers, Shipowners, Transporters, …

Diploma

Master Degree in Transport and Logistics Management or equivalent.

Experience

  • Experience in container terminal operations
  • Have experience of 8 to 10 years preferably.
  • Have experience of 6 to 8 years obligatorily.
  • Experience in project management.
  • An experience of 5 years obligatorily.
  • Experience in the use of the container Terminal Operating System (NAVIS, Zodiac, etc.)

  • Implement HSSE action plans for your entity;
  • Enforce HSSE instructions, procedures, and instructions by the staff under your control;
  • Have compliance with HSSE operational procedures and instructions in your department drafted, approved and monitored;
  • Pilot or participate in reporting and analysis of incidents if necessary.
