We are recruiting for one of our customers one Purchasing Manager / Plastic packaging & building materials sector.

Place of work: Dakar / Petit Mbao

Contract type: CDI


  • Implement a purchasing strategy for the company
  • Establish and validate the purchasing budget
  • Negotiate with suppliers by setting price, quality, cost and volume
  • Analyse each family of plastic products to be purchased
  • Follow the product launch campaign to anticipate needs
  • Expand the company’s network of suppliers by launching prospecting campaigns
  • Report on purchasing activity to the General Management
  • Provide regular targeted reporting to all departments of the company
  • Follow up on purchasing files and ensure that raw materials, inputs/materials and equipment are brought in as quickly as possible and at the lowest possible cost, while ensuring strict compliance with legislation within the company
  • Set up and analyse the dashboard and KPI’s, take corrective measures if necessary
  • Ensure compliance with safety and quality management standards
  • Optimise the purchase of raw materials and office supplies
  • Ensure the follow-up of the purchase deadlines for industrial spare parts
  • Ensure maximum service rate on stock

Skills / Certificates required 

  • General and specific knowledge of purchasing: plastics and packaging.
  • Skills in supplier sourcing techniques
  • Ability to develop our purchasing: to bring innovation, optimise costs, anticipate, control and reduce risks
  • Ability to manage projects (good command of multi-project management methodologies)
  • Knowledge of the company’s businesses and activities, and the needs of other departments
  • Mastery of security standards and current global risks in trading and the stock market
  • Good knowledge of the international and local markets
  • Strong knowledge of management control, to manage the Purchasing budget and promote dialogue with the
  • Finance Department
  • Good command of English is essential

  • Sense of anticipation to implement innovative solutions
  • Adaptability and technological watch as the purchasing sector is constantly evolving
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to listen in functional and hierarchical relationships
  • Ability to negotiate with employees (define objectives, participate in the recruitment process) and service providers (obtain the product or service offering the best quality/price ratio for the company)


  • Degree in Purchasing Management and Techniques
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the management and optimisation of purchasing in industries.
