Site Eramet

Eramet Grande Côte is a Senegalese (subsidiary of the Eramet Group) that specializes in the recovery of ilmenite, rutile, ilmenite, and zircon. The mine and its two processing plants have been in service since 2014. The project has managed to overcome a series of human, technical, and societal challenges to recover these natural resources, in partnership with the country’s public authorities and local communities.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate a strategic vision for sustainable development and ESG performance to ensure business longevity, risk management, and competitive positioning.
  • Anticipate regulatory changes and integrate social, environmental, and biodiversity standards into the company’s practices.
  • Lead GCO’s IRMA certification project by coordinating the necessary actions to achieve it.
  • Oversee the implementation of Eramet’s sustainable development requirements, including compliance with internal standards, regular reporting of progress, and audits.
  • Monitor regulatory and technical developments, issuing alerts and recommendations to meet new requirements, contributing to regulatory compliance and maintaining operating permits.
  • Develop constructive relationships with external stakeholders and coordinate community relations in collaboration with the GCO Executive Committee.
  • Design risk management and energy efficiency strategies, highlighting achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strengthen synergy between corporate departments, lead the internal expert network, and manage teams with high standards to protect the reputation of GCO and Eramet.

About You

  • Master’s level (Bac +5); extensive experience in environmental and societal matters, preferably in the mining industry (minimum 10 years).
  • Expertise in international standards (IFC, IRMA, ICMM, etc.).
  • Strong teaching, synthesis, organizational, listening, and persuasion skills.
  • Proven experience in implementing IRMA standards or excellent knowledge of the framework.
  • Strong ability to work in teams and networks.
  • Deep commitment to promoting environmental and social issues.
  • Skilled in stakeholder dialogue.
  • Excellent writing and facilitation skills.
  • Fluency in French and English is essential; Wolof is a plus.
